George Koch Sons Achieves IN Wellness Certification

  August 2008

The Indiana Wellness Council presented George Koch Sons with a three star certification rating for their wellness program.  George Koch Sons was recognized at the Tri-State Business Group On Health meeting as being the second company south of Bloomington to achieve a certified program.  The three star level requires top management support, planning by a wellness team, a needs assessment and analysis, program goals, safety initiatives, and a two year operating plan.

Steve Church, president of George Koch Sons, congratulated Cheryl Giesman and Jennifer Erwin both in Human Resources for spearheading the wellness program.
"Cheryl and Jennifer help our employees keep wellness at top of mind. They organize Lunch & Learn sessions on health topics ranging from preventing breast cancer to smoking cessation. They also hold healthy lifestyle challenges and communicate important health care coverage and pharmacy information to all GKS team members."
GKS also has a nurse that comes on-site weekly to answer any health related questions that employees may have. In addition, the wellness team organizes an annual health fair where employees’ progress toward health goals is measured. For each goal met, employees receive a $50 bonus in their paychecks. With a spouse, some employees can take home up to $500.
